Chlorhexidine Dry Foam Shampoo

While this isn't exactly cheap, the Barkin & Meowson no-rinse pet shampoo did a great job on my dogs' feet over the last month, and I've still got some left in the container.As I'm sure lots of folks with pets have noticed, it's been a very wet start to the year, and that means having to clean paws every time the dogs go outside to do their business. We've got some 'muddy mats' installed at our front and back doors, which definitely lessen the potential carnage on the odd occasion a dog will make it out of the kitchen before we've got to their feet, but they don't clean so much as they soak up, so we still need to use a microfibre cloth to get those paws clean.Using a cloth alone does a reasonable job, but I was honestly surprised to see how much dirt I was able to lift when using this shampoo - just a marble-sized amount is enough to get two paws done, and it's a clearly visible difference. While it doesn't have a neutral smell, there are no perfumes - it smells like what it is, and that's it - which is great for me. In the past I've come to associate previously pleasant smells with fox poo after our older dog went through a phase of rolling around in it - so not having any additional fragrances added is perfect.Not needing to rinse means it doesn't really take much extra time to get the dogs' feet cleaned; it's literally just the extra time needed to squirt a little onto the cloth, which the dogs definitely prefer as well - in the past we've tried the tubs with a sillicone insert and they've always hated having to get their feet wet if they can avoid it, to the point we abandoned it.I've not noticed any skin reactions or irritation after using for a month, and I don't expect to, but obviously that's something that's going to be different per pet. I'm comfortable using this with my dogs.One thing to look out for, is that it is possible to pull the top part of the bottle away from the main container - so be careful when opening!

Coming in a pump-action spray bottle (oddly without a lid, not sure if that's on purpose), this is an antimicrobial spray containing chlorhexidine, for pets. It is odourless and sprays as a clear liquid. I tested it on my chapped hands before putting it on the dog, and it doesn't sting at all, so I was confident it wouldn't sting my dog. Obviously products such as this are not intended for any big injuries but I have used it on little grazes on my dog from her being scratched by bushes, and they stayed clean and uninfected and healed fast, so I believe it works. The bottle size is 150ml so there's plenty in it while it's small enough to fit in a bag, without it being so large that the expiry date would be a concern.Effective and non-irritant product.

My dog has itchy patches on her stomach from her harness so I had been using another chlorhexidine solution for it. I showed this one to my Vet and she said it was basically the same thing and works out slightly cheaper than what I was buying from them. This was reassuring to know and, having worked in hospitals, I am fully aware of the benefits of chlorhexidine for cleansing and sterilising the skin. It is easy to spray onto the affected areas and seems to absorb easily. My dog has not experienced any side effects and is happy for me to apply it. The other application I was using was a liquid that you dab onto the area so this is actually much easier to apply. It doesn’t really have as much of a smell to it either. It is important to point out that it shouldn’t be used on open wounds as it will sting a bit. I am happy to recommend it.

I have a Shih Tzu dog aged 3 and she has developed itchy skin and allergies. She is scratching and licking herself so much that her white furn on her tummy and legs turned pinky-red from all the licking. Poor thing, she is clearly uncomfortable and we have tried different shampoos along with dietary changes and anti-allergy medications to try to get her relief. I ordered this shampoo because it has Chlorhexidine which is an antiseptic that they use in mouthwash and other products to fight germs and reduce inflammation - it's tried and tested in different contexts for people as well as animals so I know it is safe and effective.I have used this shampoo twice now and I am happy with the product. As a shampoo it is very good quality - it is not runny like some shampoos, comes out quite thick, and it lathers well. There is no mediciney or perfumey smell that my dog wouldn't like so that is a plus. The pump works very well so it is convenient to pump it out with one hand while bathing her. According to the instructions you just have to leave it on for a few minutes so it isn't too long for her to stand in the tub before rinsing. It rinses clean away easily and her coat is shiny and soft. The best result so far is that her red patches are noticeably whitened by this shampoo, so it is worth it just for that. She seems to have some relief from her itchiness but is still scratching - perhaps out of habit, it is hard to say. I'll deinitely be using this weekly and am content that it is starting to help her. As my dog is very small this bottle will last a good few washes, making it good value for me, but if you have a larger dog the price might seem expensive.

Our senior dog has sensitive skin, and to make matters worse, he has a hotspot that most shampoos irritate. Fortunately, he doesn’t get dirty a lot and really doesn’t have a dog smell. However, he was starting to need a bath so I was looking for a good shampoo that would get him clean without irritating his skin or inflaming the hotspot. This one ticked all of the boxes.Important features:QUALITY: This is very good quality shampoo, it has a higher price point but it is worth it. It has ingredients that are focused on helping fight the bacteria that cause a lot of skin irritations, and actually seemed to help sooth his hotspot.CLEANSING: While this is focused on irritated skin, it does a fabulous job as a normal dog shampoo as well. It cleans his fur and skin beautifully, and leaves him feeling and smelling soft and clean. It rinses away very easily, and seems to moisturize the skin as well as it cleans it. So, it even helps irritation caused by dry skin.LATHER: This shampoo has a nice foamy lather rather than the ultra thick lather my old dog shampoo had, but it does lather up very nicely. The foam reminds me of the type of lather you get from dish soap, so it is ultra easy to rinse away.SCENT: This has a barely noticeable, but clean and fresh scent to it. It is a very nice smell, and makes our dog smell fabulous.GENTLE: This shampoo is definitely good for dogs with sensitive skin. It helps clean problem areas, treats irritated skin, and moisturizes brilliantly.Overall, we are very happy with the quality and results of this shampoo, we will definitely be getting this one again. While we got it specifically to help soothe his skin irritations, we like it because it is a fabulous all around dog shampoo.

I ordered this no rinse pet cleansing spray for my dog who struggles with skin issues due to being crossed with a hairless breed. I liked the idea of using a cleansing spray inbetween baths to keep his tummy clean and the chlorhexidine was the perfect addition to help his skin to stay healthy.I only use this on his tummy. He has a habit of weeing on himself so it's important to keep him clean day to day. This spray makes it so much easier and the anti bacterial action is a huge bonus.My boy hasn't experienced any negative effects to this spray so far. It is too early to tell if it improves his skin condition but I am hopeful that it will help. It is totally fragrance free but it helps him to remain fresh as it is great at removing dirt. I spray, wipe and he's done.It is quite a small bottle for £15.95 but with the chlorhexidine it's worth it and it will last my dog quite a while for the area that we use it on.

My Spanish water dog has seasonal allergies. I’m not sure what type of grass sets her off but it’s always at the same time of year and persists for a month or two, causing her to scratch.I’m hoping this shampoo will help her as when she takes the vet prescribed antihistamines they upset her tummy.The ingredients don’t contain any nasties, and the shampoo lathers easily and despite my dog being a larger breed I didn’t have to use too much.Also the pump dispenser makes it easy to use one handed and since it’s a measured dose I don’t use too much although the bottle is a decent enough size.It’s effective and cleans her curly coat which is saying something as it does hang onto dirt, and it rinses easily. I would normally shampoo her twice but I didn’t feel I needed to.Given the quality I’d say it’s fairly priced. Its should last well, and I hope when the season comes around it’ll help.I hope you find my experiences helpful.

Smells nice and sprays well. My dog hates being clean and getting a bath/shower so was hoping this might help along with the same brands foam no rinse shampoo.I used this after the no rinse shampoo which helped a lot to remove dry skin from my dog (she is a shihtzu that has the breed related dry itchy skin and can have a cradle cap type effect left stuck to her fur at times) this literally helped remove the cradle cap type dry skin from being stuck to her fur which without the spray often takes a longer time to remove whilst fighting with a wiggling dog so to have it come off much easier and quicker is a bonus! She hasn’t itched at all today after a single application last night so far so good!The fragrance is light and unobtrusive and it dried well not quickly but well.

This is really good for giving both my cat and dog a bit of a clean in between proper baths (not for the cat). My cat is old so can’t clean herself well so we’ve used this a couple of times to just help keep her cleaner and prevent grease build up. The dog we’ve used after a walk when he’s a bit grubby but not enough for a full bath. I did try it as normal shampoo in the bath recently though and it worked fine in there too, so that is an option.It comes out as a nice, thick foam which is easy to apply and doesn’t have any scent to it. It leave coats lovely and soft and is very gentle.

I recently these Barkin & Meowson Puppy Shampoo range, and I’m genuinely impressed!From the very first wash, I could tell it was formulated with puppies in mind.The shampoo has a light, pleasant scent that isn’t overpowering, and it left my puppies smelling fresh for daysWhat I love most is how gentle it is. My puppy has fairly sensitive skin, and this shampoo didn’t cause any dryness or irritation. The lather is soft and easy to rinse out, which makes bath time much quicker (and less chaotic!). After drying, my puppies coats felt incredibly soft, fluffy, and shiny.A little goes a long way, so the bottle should last quite a while.
