Used this a couple of times now and honestly not seen any real different in my shihtzus fur with regards to volume? The fragrance is stunning so I like to use this to give a nice subdued light fragrance to my pooch but apart from giving a nice shine to her fur no volume has been added although I have exactly given her a bouncy blow?
I have now used several products from the Barkin and Meowson range on my two lovely dogs. The most recent product I have used is this Volume Boost spray. The product comes in a 350 mls spray bottle. It contains vegan collagen and is pH balanced as well as being paraben and sulphate free. The spray is operated via a white button which clicks and switches the spray on and off.The strength of fragrance is more pronounced than in other products I have used from the same range. I think this is due to the fact that it can be used in-between bathing, so the stronger fragrance may be there to mask any doggy odours which would normally be eliminated by a bath/shampoo. It’s not an unpleasant smell, but I do prefer the lighter fragrance of the other products. It didn’t really smell of coconut oil to me. As with the other products in the range it is pH balanced, sulphate and paraben free.I have tried it on my dogs, and although it left their coat feeling silky and perfumed, I didn’t really notice any difference in the volume. I would have liked to use it on their spaniel ears, but it says to avoid using on the ear area, so I haven’t risked it. The spray comes out well with a fine mist.To date this is the only product in this entire range that I have not been 100% happy with regarding its effectiveness, and it is so far the only one I wouldn’t re-order. In fact, since using it my dog is on the sofa next to me, and I am starting to find the fragrance irritating, but in saying that, I am sensitive to certain smells.
We have two little dogs, a mid brown Chorkie and a white Morkie. Our little Morkie has very fine, quite sparse hair which rarely looks glossy but instead, rather dry at the ends, especially on her body. They both hate grooming of any sort but particularly baths. I thought this was worth a try. I did our Morkie first. I sprayed it all over her body, massaged it in and finally brushed her. She didn’t object to this at all and in fact seemed to quite enjoy it. I couldn’t see much difference the first time I’ve used but now I’ve used it several times I can definitely see a difference in her coat. The ends of her hair aren’t so dry so her coat lays flat more smoothly and this makes a big difference to the overall look. I tried it on our Chorkie, more from the point of getting him to accept grooming a little bit more. He wasn’t so keen on the spraying or the massaging in but as he already has a thick glossy coat I wasn’t expecting a big change! An added bonus is the gorgeous smell of it, without any irritation to their skin. I’d recommend it without hesitation.
I am a big big fan of Barkin and Meowson as a brand, they make high quality, vet approved premium products, made with gorgeous ingredientsand this is no different. I used this on my shih tzu, she is usually afraid of sprays, but this is quite a gentle spray that spreads well rather than a jet of liquid. With a couple of sprays on her back I was able to spend a good ten minutes massaging and rubbing this into her fur.I was able to use the time to makie funky hairstyles with her fur whilst it was damp and being rubbed in, but I honestly can't say whether it was a volume boost as I am not sure what volumised fur looks like! What I can say is that this spray smells really lovely, although I have to say my personal preference would be to spray this on a boy dog as it felt a little more masculine with the mushy hints of the scent. Three days after using it she still has wafts of it when she's having a cuddle, and it stayed on my hands all day. This isn't the cheapest brand, but a little goes a very long way which makes it great value for money overall, and you really do get what you pay for with this spray as it is well made, well packaged and smells lovely.
This has become my go-to when I want to freshen up my dog without a full bath. I've got little chihuahuas who are prone to knots and tangles, and spraying a bit of this on before brushing makes a real difference - the comb just glides through much easier. The scent is nice and not overpowering, which seems to be the case with all the Barkin & Meowson products I've tried. Leaves their coats looking fluffier and feeling soft. Really handy to have around.
