I love this dog shampoo.I have a labradoodle. His fur is quite wirey on his back but curly on his head and legs and this shampoo is brilliant for both. His back was left silky smooth and his head and legs were so much easier to brush afterwards. The smell is lovely and the fact that it’s gentle on skin is a bonus as my dog suffers from allergies. The smell lasts for quite sometime after washing and you don’t need to use too much shampoo per bath so the bottle should last quite some time.Absolutely love this and would recommend
If you have a double-coated breed or a dog with wavy hair that’s prone to matting, this is a lifesaver. It left his coat looking shiny and "show-dog" ready, even though he spent the morning in a ditch. Definitely worth the price for the grooming time it saved me afterward! My dog looks like a Victorian gentleman again, at least until he finds the next puddle. 10/10 would wash the mud away again.Arrived well packaged, with fast delivery and no leaking.
I chose to order this shampoo for our family dog that has curly hair being a cavapoo to aid in being able to brush him regularly without their beautiful curls getting tangled up in the brush and if it works well over several washes my hope is to lessen the time I need to take him to the groomers. The shampoo is only a 350ml bottle but being a pump dispenser means I’m able to get consistency in how many pumps of shampoo I need when washing him, so it will go further. The scent is subtle but very nice aroma in my view, I’ve only used the shampoo once as he was due a wash anyway and i like that it gives a good lather but not too many suds it seems like the correct amount for our size dog. After washing him and drying him off, I brushed him as normal and I have to admit his fur is softer than normal and brushing was better hence why I’m hopeful the more I use it the better it will be. At the time of ordering the cost was £15.97 which is value for money in my personal opinion.
We recently tried the Detangling Dog Shampoo on our mother-in-law's Shetland sheepdog ( Sheltie), who had been struggling with significant matting in certain areas. This shampoo was a welcome addition to our grooming routine, especially for the troublesome spots that often became a battleground during grooming sessions. The application process was straightforward: prior to using the shampoo, we combed the dog’s coat to remove any excess hair and loose dirt. After wetting the coat with tepid water, we applied the shampoo, worked it into a lather, and rinsed thoroughly—being careful to avoid the eyes, nose, and ears.We were pleasantly surprised by the results. The detangling formula effectively eased the fur, making it much simpler to keep mats at bay. The dog’s coat felt softer and looked healthier after washing. A lovely bonus was the scent; it was refreshing and pleasant for a dog shampoo. In fact, several of us commented that if it were safe, we would love to use it ourselves! The shampoo’s packaging is user-friendly, with a size of 350ml that should last through several washes. While it retails for £15.95, which may seem on the higher side for dog shampoos, I believe the price is justified given its specific detangling properties and the positive impact it had on our dog's coat.Overall, we highly recommend this Detangling Dog Shampoo for owners of curly and wavy-coated dogs. It not only makes grooming easier but also leaves the fur in excellent condition, both in texture and aroma
Because I have a curly coated dog, he goes to the groomers regularly. His coat needs regular grooming, and maintaining at home, in between grooming.I am always looking out for the best products possible, to help me be able to do this. The Barkin & Meowson Detangling Spray, for dogs and cats, is Vet recommended. Because of that I feel more secure using this on my dog. It is also paraben and sulphate free. Using it puts my mind at rest. This comes in a good solid spray form container, looks regal, and the label has the beautiful gold dog and cat logo on.The spray is very easy to use, then my dog gets brushed through. The smell is gorgeous, but not overpowering. My dog is happy to let himself be brushed after applying, so that makes my job easier!I believe this to be well made, good quality, and good value.
We have a spaniel cross who has very fine, fluffy bits to his body and typical spaniel ears. They get knotted up so easily and it’s a nightmare usually to brush out. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this worked though, had no complaints from the dog even when there was a knot. It almost slides through them so a lot of them can then be combed out. I just let it sit for a minute and it was good to go, leaving his fur nice and soft once it had dried out. It’s a fairly big bottle so hoping it will last us a while too
I have a double coated Akita Shar Pei and his undercoat under his collar gets quite matted. He doesn't like being brushed, so trying to get that out is a bit of a mission. With a little bit of this detangling spray, it made it much easier.I leave it for five minutes after I have sprayed him and then brush him. My friend has a Tibetan Terrier with mid length fur and she is always getting tangles. I gave her this spray to try, and she said it is amazing. It makes getting the tangles out so much easier and quicker. The spray has a pleasant aroma that isn't overpowering, but doesn't immediately fade away. The bottle itself is easy to hold, and the spray mechanism is sturdy and doesn't feel like it's going to snap after a couple of uses. A little bit goes across long way. 5/5 from both of us.
Another great contender from the Barkin & Meowson Stable. This lovely detangling shampoo is specially formulated for the curly fur babies in your life, enriched with macadamia oil to moisturise and condition. Next comes cotton oil, rich in Vitamin E, to soften the coat, making combing quicker, easier & kinder for your pet, making removing tangles a more positive experience for them & you. This lovely product is Veterinary Dermatologist Recommended & suitable for all breeds with curly and wavy coats, such as Poodles, Doodles, Lagotto Romagnolo, Bichon Frisé, Old English Sheepdog & more. Dogs have a very highly sensitive sense of smell & with this in mind, the guys at Barkin & Meowson have got you covered because this product is gentle & pet-approved, yet effective enough to neutralise any doggy odour problems. PH balanced, Paraben & Sulphate Free, every sensible doggy owner needs this amazing shampoo in their pet cupboard. Once again, another fabulous product from this range & I am very happy to recommend this, thank you.
I have a poodle cross and he has a curly type coat. He has recently had a shave down but you can see his coat isn't flat. His hair tends to matt easily once it gets to a certain lengh, so I wanted something that would help with grooming as I try to do grooming at home a lot of the time to save costs. It is early as his hair it short but I think it helped with getting some mild matts off his legs as before the bath I was struggling to get the clippers under it, but managed after his bath. The pump mechanism is easy to use and there is a nice quantity for my small dog so should last me and isn't bulky so fits on the bath edge.
My dog is crossed with a poodle and his hair is long and wavy (not curly) and becomes matted very easily. It's important for us to use a conditioning shampoo which helps to keep his hair tangle free. This shampoo comes in a quality looking bottle with a pump dispenser. It smells amazing. I'm not sure exactly what it smells of but it's sweet and I love it.The shampoo lathers up well and goes a long way. It made light work of my dirty little pup (who is grey and white). When dried, his hair was easy to brush - a lot better than it usually is so I'd say that it definitely works and for this reason, I am happy to recommend.
I used this shampoo on my cockerpoo who gets terribly matted. Anyone with one of the doodle breeds will know the constant fight to keep their very specific kind of hair mat free. Usually getting her wet just makes her mat more no matter what shampoo I use, but after using this I was able to brush her out really smoothly and she looks the most silky smooth she's ever looked! She also smells really nice, which is a definite bonus, although, to be honest, the detangling effect works so well I think I would have kept using it even if I didn't like the scent! It did take a fair bit of the shampoo to get a decent lather, but it eventually lathered up well. The pump bottle is great because wrestling a wriggling dog in a wet bathroom while trying to manage not to spill an open bottle is next to impossible.I like that the shampoo is pH balanced, sulfate and paraben free and cruelty free, and that the way it eases the tangles makes grooming less uncomfortable for my dog. It may not be one of the cheapest shampoos I've tried at £15.95 fot 350 ml (price at time of review) but I consider it worth it. I don't think I would pay this much normally for a dog shampoo, but for a problem coat like a cockerpoo's, that I've tried multiple things for and never been able to keep nice before, I absolutely will!
Smells gorgeous and great detangling formula, especially for my cockapoos long wavy coat. Both came out super soft and fluffy. Very happy with this shampoo as some tend to flare up my dogs sensitive skin, this however has been good with no sign of irritation. Effectively deep cleans the coat leaving beautifully clean and tangle free fur.
Ordered this to try as my dog has a fine wavy coat that gets knots/matts very easilyI do try to keep on top with brushing but anything that helps reduce tangles is a bonusThis shampoo smells lovely and lathers well, does not irritate and my dog doesnt seem to mind the scent (he doesnt like anything too 'perfumed')So far so good, I have used this twice and been impressed that his coat has fewer tugs and little knots - his ears are still the biggest problem area but it will take more than a detangle shampoo to stop knots thereOverall very pleased, his fur is lovely and soft and it cleans well without irritation
Excellent for my Cockapoo
I have used several barkin and meowson products now and am very impressed with the brand which has now replaced my previous 'leading brand choice'. Firstly I very much like that the products have a long lasting but very mild fresh fragrance: I must admit that my previous leading brand was largely chosen because i loved its strong fragrance so much; but dogs have very sensitive noses and it must have felt overpowering to our dog. The detangler works really well, we have a standard poodle who is very much an adventure poodle: loves water and mud and hates brushing but we try to keep some semblance of a floof on her throughout the year and grow out her usually velvet length coat in the winter. By spring we are normally pulling our hair out and trimming the mats off her. This product has helped hugely, we use it regularly between her neccessarily frequent baths and it relaxes her fur and makes the passage of a brush easier. Grooming is never fun for our girl but this spray makes the process easier, and therefore we manage more thorough brushing before human and dog are emotionally and physically shattered. A little of this spray goes a long way, so it works out comparable in cost per groom to our leading brand and does also seem to have a cumulative effect each time it used. Longer poodle hair is not particularly shiny due to its curliness i guess but she does look in good condition, even though she is now approaching the end of a particularly muddy winter, and the floof is beautifully soft. Very much recommended, particularly when used with this brands other products. My one complaint is the swan neck spray is too delicate for a dog orientated product (although it works well and is easy to use), and i have decanted it into an empty travel size spray bottle (which is also useful as we can take it with us in the walking backpack and do a little brush out if needed on the walk) to avoid a potential breakage. No irritation or adverse effects, despite poodles being very prone to these.
Using this shampoo was lovely. Smelt great and looked amazing after a blow dry and brush.
Love Barkin & Meowson products as used quite a few of them now on our pups and always find them brilliant quality and very effective whilst being safe and easy to use. This is a brilliant detangling shampoo which is great for longer or curly coats. Really effective and easy to work in too and a little goes a long way making it great value too. Leaves coats tangle free and feeling super soft and clean whilst looking lovely with a nice fresh shine.
We have a dog with curly hair, possibly a Bedlington poodle mix, his hair is very soft but matts really easily so when washing his fur he needs a good shampoo and conditioner to aid brushing. To start with we have been very impressed with the smell and how long it lasts, it is not over powering but it does last, and people notice how good he smells for around a week after he has been bathed. The pump dispenser is very handy especially when your hands are wet and works very well, the shampoo lathers well and leaves his fur feeling great. This is not a big bottle of shampoo, but it works so well I would happily get this again, we have had very minimal matting since we started to use this.
I think it depends on the size of the dog/ type of knots they get. Pricey. My dog gets matted from winter jackets & after a few days of walks, I need to sit down and brush through for a while. I’m not convinced as to its effectiveness overall, I wasn’t finding it to be a miracle solutionBrushing wise, it seems to help, but only if I soak the knot/ matted hair first.I then walk away, let it soak in for a while, then come back to it. It helps maybe 30% but soaking his matted hair in conditioner sees to have about the same result. I think it depends on the type of dog hair yours has. So, I gave it a 3 star rating because of price vs results ratio, it helps, but gosh its expensive for the results. If you have a small dog, go for it, for a bigger dog… hmmm… it will add up. I found it a bit almost sticky vs smooth feeling, but that might be just how it appeared to me.
This is easily one of the best detangling products we have used for our dogs. Its high quality and really easy to use, only a few sprays needed. It works really well and makes brushing simple. There is a slight scent, but its pleasant and my dogs don't seem to be bothered by it. A little goes a long way, so I'd say its good value for money.
I think this is going to do really well. I tried some as soon as it arrived, on my hands, as the dog was only washed last week, so I can't ask her to have another bath just yet, she'll think I'm being OTT. It feels lovely and soft on my skin, and very soapy, with a gentle but pleasant fragrance, and easy to rinse off too. She is a full miniature poodle, with a very curly natural coat, that does matt easily, even with daily grooming, with the right equipment, hence deciding to try the Barkin & Meowson, as it has some good reviews, and I feel sorry for my poor dog, as I struggle to keep her matt free. Unfortunately for both of us, she has very sensitive skin, in comparison to my previous standard, who I realise now, didn't. I will update after I've used it on her though, but feel I'm safe saying it seems a good shampoo.
Great product! The scent is very subtle and not overpowering which is good and my shih-pooh seems to be fine with it and not mind it being used.Easy to use - you dont need a lot - few sprays and then a good brush and the tangles seem to go very easily. This range of products is on the slightly more expensive side but well worth it for the quality (I also have one of the shampoos) and it certainly goes a long way.Very nice range of products which Im very happy to use on my fur-babies :)
